First, I apologise for the choppy writing. I haven’t been at my best, but I am attempting to write something useful about Lenormand every day.
As you can see from the title, this is about cartomancy and illness, so if that’s not your thing, stop reading this entry here. There are lots of other entries on the blog that you’ll likely enjoy which don’t deal with health issues at all.
It goes without saying that health readings for clients are iffy at best, and many readers prefer to avoid them. You can’t make diagnoses, though you can suggest a client see a doctor if you see something suspicious in a reading, or if a client complains of feeling poorly. Gven the nature of Lenormand, sometimes health combinations do come up in readings. You can look at your own health, as well, though that doesn’t exempt you from medical appointments when you need them, either.
My diabetes has been spiralling out-of-control lately, mostly from lack of food and emotional stress. And diabetes is becoming a very prevalent illness in the west, so I thought I’d look at it from a cartomantic perspective. How do you see diabetes – or a propensity towards diabetes – in Lenormand?

The cards are: Ship, Mountain, Stars.
There is a why. All Lenormand cards relate to parts and functions of the body, so I thought I’d go through this one with you. I may do some more writing about health and illness in Lenormand as it’s a topic most everyone wants to know about. Just remember that you don’t live or die by the throw of the cards, but they can indicate a need for medical attention at times.
The short (and not nearly technically accurate enough) explanation of most adult-onset diabetes is the failure of pancreatic beta cells. When that happens, the insulin ‘thermostat’ in your body fails to regulate properly, and you become insulin-resistant. This causes your blood sugar to rise, and it’s that sugar bath your cells get that causes so much of the damage – heart disease, high blood pressure, eye damage, nerve damage, maddeningly dry skin, slow wound and infection healing and complications, exhaustion, and kidney problems, to name some of the most common problems. Your pancreatic beta cells aren’t working right, and your other cells aren’t getting proper nutrition. That’s the basics, anyway. How do we see this illness in Lenormand?
We look to the cards that correlate to the major physical areas affected in this particular illness. I’ll bold the important bits.
The Ship rules: the liver, bile, spleen, pancreas, urine, lymphatic liquid.
The Mountain rules: the bones, skull, and inclinations towards blockages, obstructions, hardening, and failures.
The Stars rule: your skin, your cells, any sensitivities, and emotionally, your feelings (which can also get pretty screwed up by blood sugar abnormalities).
Can you see how it fits together?
That’s how the combinations for illness work. I’ll try to add in the physical rulerships of the cards on the meanings page soon.
Cheers all -
